Numbness in the Neck, Arm & Shoulder

A man in his 50s presented in the office on 7/8/2019 with severe pain in his neck and shoulder that transformed to numbness and loss of function in his hand. Before his initial treatment he had an 8/10 burning pain in the whole upper extremity and through his neck and upper back.

As of 8/7/2019 he has come in for 12 treatments. His condition has improved by 75%.

By his 4th treatment the pain in the neck, upper back and shoulder had decreased by 50%.

By his 5th treatment, his pain was from the elbow down to his fingers.

By his 6th treatment, his pain, overall had decreased by 75%

By his 9th treatment, his has virtually no more pain, and now we are focusing on eliminating the area of numbness.

By his 12th treatment, his grip has improved, his fine motor control has improved and he notices an increase in sensation in his hand for some time during and after treatment.

The dates of treatment were: 7/8, 7/9, 7/10, 7/12, 7/15, 7/17, 7/19, 7/22, 7/26, 7/29, 8/2, 8/5.

As you can see, this patient initially came in 3 days in a row, and 5 times within one week. His condition was fairly acute and debilitating and he needed to use his hands for work. He committed to coming in frequently and following my instructions for movement modification. His results are very good thus far, and we continue to see improvement within each treatment. He still exacerbates the condition with his daily work, thus we are keeping him coming in twice weekly until we see better function in his hand, then we will start extending time between treatment.

UPDATE 11/6/2019

As of 10/28/19 the patient no longer has any numbness. He continues treatment for maintenance and residual stiffness in the fifth finger from overuse at work. His additional visits were 8/14, 8/15, 8/19, 8/20, 8/24, 8/31, 9/2, 9/4, 9/6, 9/10, 9/13, 9/16, 9/20, 9/23, 9/30, 10/4, 10/11, 10/15, 10/21, 10/28, 11/6. Total number of treatments: 33.
